Nancy Lois Bowcutt, 78, the oldest daughter of Bill and Roberta Rae (Horne) McKercher, went to see our Heavenly Father on Feb. 3, 2008, at the Shoshone Rehabilitation and Living Center in Shoshone.

Nancy was born June 7, 1929, in Hailey. During her school years in Bellevue, she played basketball and was in the Glee Club. She married her high school sweetheart, Gurwin LaVon Bowcutt, July 21, 1947, in Elko, Nev. After they were married they lived in Hyrum and Ogden, Utah, where their sons Richard and Ronald were born. They then returned to Idaho where Lee, Willa and Bonnie were born.

Later, the family moved to Wardner, Idaho, where Nancy got involved in the community. She was a member of Rebekahs and served as Grand Noble. She belonged to the American Legion, Post 24, and also served on the election boards for Wardner and Bellevue. She was a clerk at stores in Wardner and later in Bellevue. She also delivered newspapers, sold Avon, Cameo paints, and held various jobs. Nancy loved to go camping and fishing. She also loved to go mushroom hunting and honeysuckle picking. She enjoyed going for long drives in the fall, her favorite time of year because of all the beautiful colors. She loved her little black dog Bo-Bo who will miss her greatly.

Surviving family members include sons Richard (Debra) Bowcutt of Casper, Wyoming, Ronald (Anne) Bowcutt of Shelley, Idaho, Lee (Nancy) Bowcutt of Kalispell, Montana; daughters, Willa (Kirby) Gray of Kellogg, Idaho, Bonnie George (Randy Riley) of Wallace, Idaho; eighteen grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by a brother, Robert McKercher, of Tacoma, Wash.; a sister, Roberta (McKercher) Broadie, of Ashland, Ore.; a special aunt, Billie Buhler, of Hailey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, LaVon. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one brother, one grandchild and one daughter-in-law.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts can be made to the Shoshone Rehabilitation and Living Center, 511 Fourth St., Shoshone, ID 83352 or to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are under the care of Wood River Chapel of Hailey, Idaho (www.woodriverchapel.com).
