MIFFLINBURG -

Frank Bottiger, 88, of 12 Bogar Lane since 1978, entered into rest at 4:40 a.m. Monday March 29, 2010, at Riverwoods, Lewisburg, where he had been a resident since June 5.

He was born Feb. 12, 1922, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Paul and Margaret (Mader) Bottiger. On Nov. 27, 1944, in Norfolk, Va., he married the former Betty E. Miller, who survives.

Frank was a 1941 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

He served in the Navy during World War II from April 21, 1943, until his honorable discharge Dec. 3, 1945.

Frank was employed as a commissary supervisor at the U.S. Penitentiary, Lewisburg, for 22 years, retiring in 1975. He also worked as the secretary and treasurer of the credit union of the penitentiary. Earlier in life, he was employed as a secretary for the borough of Mifflinburg.
He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, for 50 years.

Frank was a member of Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410 and the Free & Accepted Masons, Milton.

He enjoyed planting trees and yard work at his home.

Surviving are two sons, Gary P. Bottiger and Larry D. Bottiger, both of Mifflinburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Donald P. and Carol Bottiger, of Mifflinburg; one sister, Arlene Murray, of Mifflinburg; and one granddaughter, Sarah Bottiger, of New York.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Floyed "Joe" Bottiger.

Friends and family may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with the Rev. James Rill officiating.

Burial will be in Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
