A.H. Jenner, Passport, Is Suicide Victim

Only a few hours before he was to leave his home for a southern Illinois hospital Sunday morning, Arthur H. Jenner, 71, life-long resident of Richland County, committed suicide by shooting himself with a small-guage shotgun in his home east of Passport.

A coroner's jury Monday morning returned a verdict of suicide after hearing a relative testify that Mr. Jenner had been despondent over his health. He had gone to his upstairs bedroom to change clothes in preparation for the journey to the hospital when his wife, Daisy, heard a gunshot and found his body.

Surviving in addition to his wife are six daughters, Frances, Lucille, Beulah, Norma, Helen and Joyce, all of California; six step-children, Glen of Vincennes, Jim Park of Frankfort, Mich., Jack Park of Elkhart, Ind., Chris Park of Royal Oak, Mich., Mrs. Harry Spore of Elkhart, Ind., and Mrs. Russell Totten of Olney; and a brother, the Rev. Howard Jenner of Decatur.
