Eliza Gabriel was born in Ireland on December 17, 1845.

She was educated in a school conducted by the Episcopal Church and later became a religious governess.

When twenty-four years of age, with a younger brother and an uncle and family, she came to America. She found a home in Macon, Ill., where on October 19, 1871, she became the wife of Albert J. Nicholls. In February 1892, they removed to Clay County, Nebr., and settled southwest of Edgar, where they made their home till seven years ago, when her husband passing to the better life, July 10, 1916, she came to Edgar and here she resided till her death.

She was an adherent of the Episcopal faith till she came to America and then she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which she continued a devoted member until the voice of her Master called her home.
