Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Lamar United Methodist Church for Bernard Lee Orr, 56, 408 s. 3rd, Lamar.

Rev. Donald Bleyle will officiate and private graveside services will be held later at Riverside Cemetery.

Orr died Saturday, July 19, a Powers Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

Born Sept. 8, 1929 in Lamar, he was a 1947 graduate of Lamar High School where he received the Rotary Music award as the most outstanding band and chorus member.

He was married to Linda Dudenhaver in August of 1957 in Lamar. He was employed and associated as a partner with his family in the Orr Implement Company in Lamar where he was active in sales of farm machinery and equipment until 1967 at which time he moved to Tucson, Ariz., where he owned the Orr Real Estate Appraisal C0. from 1967 to 1974.

Bernard returned to Lamar in 1974 where he as active, until his recent illness, in the operation of the Orr Small Engine Repair Shop.

Over the years, Orr was active in numerous civic and fraternal organizations in Lamar. He was a former member of Lamar Masonic Lodge No. 90, AF&AM, a past worthy patron of th Lamar Junior Chamber of Commerce, and a former member of the Nell Mason Dance Band.

Bernard was also active member of the Noon Lions Club for many years. He was a longtime member of Lamar Elks Lodge No. 1319 and served as exalted ruler in 1958. An avid sportsman, he was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church and was a member if its choir for many years.

Orr is survived by his mother, Mrs. Martha Eula Orr of Lamar, two daughters, Brenda (Victor) Yanez of Tucson, Ariz., and Lisa (Tim) Sims of Marana, Ariz., two grand-daughters, Monica and Michelle Sim both of Marana; two sisters, Katherine Louise (Harvey F. Sr.) Drake of Lamar, and Loretta (Rev. Dale) Ellenberger of Syracuse, Kan., and several nieces and nephews and other relatives in Lamar, and a special friend, Joyce Everhart of Lamar.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arvel L. Orr, Nov. 11, 1982.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Valley memorial Chapel in Lamar.

Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the American cancer society at the Valley Memorial Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
