Gary R. Lanier, age 76, of Roopville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2007. He was born July 27, 1931 in Carroll County, GA, to the late Kate Bailey Lanier and H.J. Lanier. Mr. Lanier was a retired teacher for Carroll County Vocational High School, a United States Army Veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, and a member of Roopville Baptist Church, where he had taught Sunday school and had served as Sunday school superintendent. He enjoyed reading, gardening and woodworking, but most of all, he loved his family.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Lanier; and a sister, Sandra Lanier. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Faye Lee Lanier; four daughters and sons-in-law; son and daughter-in-law of Roopville; sister of Roopville; brother of Rome; thirteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services conducted October 26 at Roopville Baptist Church with Rev. Fred Cooke and Elder James Blair officiating. Music provided by Lisa Parmer, Emily Huckeba, Lori Startup and Becky Yoder. Pallbearers are Jonathan Hightower, Bryan Albright, Jeffrey Cowart, Bo Bass, Christopher Lanier, Jesse Bell, Judson Bell and Andy Lanier. Interment in Roopville Cemetery. Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, Carrollton in charge.
