On Mar 12th 1862, Miles enlisted in Blacksburg, Montgomery County, VA as a Pvt. in Company E., 4th VA Inf CSA. He was 19 years old, 5 ft 8 1/2 in high, with a fair complextion, gray eyes and fair hair. Miles' occupation was that of a farmer.
He died on 28th Aug 1862 in the 2nd Battle of Manassas or 2nd Bull Run. His body was either left on the battle field or buried there by fellow soldiers.
During the years of 1863 and '64, his father, John W. Adams, had to go to court (in Roanoke County, VA) to receive Miles' last pay. John died shortly after.
