Vernon Woodard

Services for Vernon Woodard, 91, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at Pleasant Springs Baptist Church near Dublin, with the Revs. Eddie Hilbun, Steve Bullington and James H. Frost officiating. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Nazarene Church Cemetery.

A native of Laurens County, Mr. Woodard was the son of the late William Blackshear and Mary Warnock Woodard and the widower of Lucille Holmes Woodard. He was a retired farmer and a member of Pleasant Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Woodard died Thursday in a Dublin hospital.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria W. Carter of Jacksonville, Fla., Hilda W. and John Marsh of Dublin, Lutrell W. and Ronnie Thigpen of Statesboro, Hannah W. and Lynn Kilgore of Statesboro, Evelyn W. and Floyd Holmes of Rockledge and Mary Florence W. and James B. Colston of Kite; 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Willie B. Anderson of Jacksonville, Fla., and a number of nieces and nephews.
