James W. Coplen
James W. COPLEN, 61, native and former resident of Rocheter, died Saturday morning at his residence in the Ravenswood YMCA in Chicago. He had been in ill health two years.
Mr. Coplen was born Nov. 30, 1913, in Rochester to Eugene and Nina Blanche HARDIN COPLEN. He was married Feb. 19, 1938 in Rochester to Marguerite SCHEID. She survives. Mr. Coplen was a 1931 graduate of Rochester high school and attended Indiana university. He was a former sales representative with McKesson-Robbins Pharmaceutical House of Chicago and later with Campana of Batavia, Ill. He had resided in Chicago 12 years, moving from Rochester.
He was a member of the Grace United Mthodist chrch, Manitou Moose lodge and the Elks lodge of Rochester where he served as the first exalted ruler.
Also surviving are two sons, William D. COPLEN, Rochester, James E. COPLEN, Princeton, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Susan) HESS, Lincoln, Neb.; the step-mother, Mrs. Sarah COPLEN VANNERSON, Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Maurice COPLEN, Chicago, and Allen COPLEN, Seattle, Wash.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Rochestr I.O.O.F. cemetery. The Rev. Paul STEPHENSON will officiate. The Zimmerman Brothers funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
