Arrived with pts. & siblings in NYC aboard Bk. Elise, 1 May 1852. 3 mos.' svc. in 6th NY Militia beginning 19 Apr. 1861. Enrolls at Staten Isl. as Pvt. in 55th Reg., NY Vol. Inf. (Garde de Lafayette) as of 28 Aug. 1861. Head wound at Fair Oaks/Seven Pines, 31 May 1862. Dec. 1862 finds Reg. consolidated with 38th NY Inf., and Moll is a Sgt. with Co. "H" in the new 38th (2nd Reg. Scott Life Guard). On 2/3 May 1863, Moll becomes a hero of Chancellorsville when Ward's Brigade attacks Jackson's forces at midnight and later repulses Confederate charge in dense woods with only bayonets for defense. On 16 May, he receives Kearney Cross, unit decoration of Birney's First Div. of Third Corps. On 3 June 1863, 3 yrs.' men of 38th are transferred to 40th Reg. NY Inf. (Mozart Reg. or Constitution Guard). Moll is First Sgt. of Co. "A." Hon. disch. near Petersburg on 28 Aug. 1864. Md. in Brooklyn 20 Sep. 1864 to Miss Emilie Niedelbock, St. Paul's Ev. Luth. Ch. 3 or 4 children born in NYC, but by 5 Dec. 1879 Moll makes declaration for Original Invalid Pension before Clerk of St. Louis Cir. Ct. Worked as a grocer for his brother Adolph, also bd. this cem., who owned A. Moll Grocer Co. Lived at 5132 Minerva Ave., St.L.
