Capt Thomas M Lindsay, born in Carbondale Oct 3, 1841 and married Mary A Reese of Wales. He was a blacksmith and later in the employ of the D&H Canal Co. He enlisted in the Civil War in 1862, was First Lieutenant of the Van Bergen Guards, Co F, 30th Regiment, Pa Nat'l Guard, and was promoted to Captain March 4, 1879. He participated with his unit in the Inaugural Parade for President Garfield in March, 1881, traveling from Carbondale to Wash, DC by special train.

The Trinity Episcopal Church record includes births of four children to Thomas and Mary Ann: Jennie, Thomas, Lida and William.

In 1880, Tom lived at 38 Canaan St on #1 Hill of the Gravity RR with his wife Mary (Reese) and her brother David. Tom and Mary's oldest two children Jennie and Tom had died the previous year.

By 1900, Tom was widowed and living with his younger children Lida and Wm Henry, but Wm Henry died later that year.

In 1910, Tom was still at 38 Canaan St. His only surviving daughter Lida was married to Francis Kirk, also in Carbondale. They later divorced after having a son and four daughters, and Lida died in 1938.
