He married Arlene Parkinson in Elko, Nevada February 18, 1948.
Darold served in the U.S. Maritime Service and U.S. Army in Europe during WWII, and U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.
He worked at Ideal Cement Co. in Devil's Slide, Utah as a mill foreman for 11 years, and then for Ogden City Police Dept, retiring as Sergeant in 1991, after 25 years of service. He then drove a school bus for Laidlaw (Ogden City Schools) 5 years.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years Arlene (Parkinson) Hawkins, children; Blaine (Julie) Hawkins, So. Ogden, Jackie (Don) Greenfield Ogden, Roxanne (Jim) Pierce, Roy, Pamela Jo (Jeff) Anderson, Layton, Tracie (Todd) Potter, Roy, R. Lance (Marlo) Hawkins, Smithfield, Patti Hawkins, Texas, 26 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 5 on the way and one great-great grandchild. Also surviving are 1 brother Dick (Norma) Hawkins, 1 Sister Lois (Darrell) Grose, and in-laws Tom (Jeanette), Dale (Dale), Marjorie, Bethel and Laverne Parkinson. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Mother and Father in-law and his in-laws Fay & Eva, Ray, Don, and Jack Parkinson and 1 great grandchild.
Friends may call on Thursday June 3, 2010 from six to eight and 1 hour prior to graveside service on Friday at Leavitt's Mortuary and Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden Utah. A graveside service will be held at Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park at two pm, on Friday June 4, 2010.
