Obit from "THE OAK LEAVES", Oak Park, Cook County, Illinois, October 13, 1971: "Harry J. Riess, A resident of the villages for longer than half a century, Harry J. Riess, 77, of 730 LathropAv., died Thursday at the Royal Oak Convalescent Center. He was born in Jefferson, Wis., attended Beloit College and lived in the villages for 55 years. Mr. Riess was a retired luggage department manager for Sears Roebuck & Co., a former member of Brookwood Country Club and Oak Park Club. He was a long-time member of River Forest Presbyterian Church, where he had seved on official boards through the years. He was the husband of Alice (Lowrey); father of Janet (William) Brook of Antioch and Donna (Karl) Abt and Morton L. (Elita), both of Arlington Heights; granfather of six, and brother of one. Services were conducted Saturday at Drechsler-Brown Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles F. Ball of the River Forest church, with burial at Forest Home. Memorials were suggested for Erie Neighborhood House, Chicago."
