ALICE LOWREY RIESS-- Alice Lowerey Riess, 98, a lifelong resident of Oak Park and River Forest, died Dec. 27 at Oak Park Hospital. Mrs. Riess' parents were among the pioneer families of Oak Park where she was born. She graduated in 1911 from Oak Park-River Forest High School and was a 1915 graduate of Beloit College where whe was a Phi Beta Kappa. She belonged to the River Forest Women's Club Chorus and was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest, the Nineteenth Century Woman's Club, Tri-Delta, the Historical Society of Oak Park and River Forest and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Riess is survived by her children, Janet (William) Brook, Donna (Karl) Abt, and Morton L. (Elita); six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Memorial services were held Dec. 30 at First Presbyterian Church of River Forest with Rev. William Proctor presiding. Internment in Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Park. Memorials were suggested for the First Presbyterian Church of River Forest, 7551 Quick Ave., IL 60305; or for the Baptist Retirement Home, 316 Randolph, Maywood, IL 60152. Arrangements were made by Drechsler-Brown Funeral Home, Oak Park.
