Windsor MO - Robert Eugene Gehrig, age 83, of Roodhouse, Illinois, died early Friday morning, Sept. 16, 2005 at his residence. He was born May 14, 1922 in Windsor, Missouri, the son of Herbert and Ilva Schrum Gehrig. He married LaVena Campbell in Windsor, Missouri and she preceded him in death. He then married Doris Simmons Gilmore on Jan. 13, 1975 in Roodhouse and she survives. He is also survived by two stepsons, Robert (wife, Carol) Gilmore of Roodhouse and Ronald (wife, Becky) Gilmore of White Hall; one stepdaughter, Nancy Stice of Roodhouse; eleven step-grandchildren, Craig Gilmore of Roodhouse, Jeff Gilmore of Riverton, Brad Gilmore of Roodhouse; Heather Webb of Carrollton; Galan Waterfallen of Las Vegas, NV; Kim Rogers of Godfrey; Tami Stice of Maryville; Amanda Stice of Roodhouse; Katy Stice of Roodhouse; Derrick Gilmore of White Hall and Josh Gilmore of Lafayette, Indiana; eleven step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Gehrig of Warsaw, Missouri and two nieces, Dixie and Diane. Mr. Gehrig was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He managed the LaCrosse Lumber Company in Roodhouse for many years, then worked at Andrews Lumber and Colwell Lumber in Jacksonville until his retirement in 1995. He was the Roodhouse Township Assessor for eight years. He was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Roodhouse and a member of the White Hall VFW Post 7684. He also served on the Board of Directors of Fernwood Cemetery. Graveside services will be held at noon Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005 at the Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor, Missouri.
