Josiah Gorham, Sr. was the son of Joseph Gorham and Sarah (Sturgis) Gorham. He was married three times. With his first wife, Sarah, he had one daughter, Rebecca (Gorham) Brown. With his second wife, Priscilla (Sears) Gorham, he had eight sons: Samuel, Isaac, Joseph, Josiah, Hezekiah, John, Stephen, and David. His third wife was Mercy (Hallett) Gorham.
