Paul R. "Dick" Dowell was killed Thursday afternoon in a one-car accident. Dowell, 18, of 415 W South St, Remington, was pronounced dead at Jasper County Hospital, Rensselear, after the 4:53 PM accident on CR 350 W, south of CR 1800 S.

Dick Dowell was born April 2, 1964 in Lafayette and was a life-long resident of Remington. A member of the Tri-County basketball team, he was also enrolled in the building trades program at Benton Central High School. He worked part-time at Soko Resaurant. He was a member of Remington United Methodist Church.

Tonight's Tri-County basketball game at West Lafayette High School has been postponed so the senior's classmates may attend his funeral. The game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 22.

Surviving are his parents, Paul L. and Myrna Coffelt Dowell of Remington; and a sister, Madonna Sue Dowell, at home.
