Germain, Maxine "Midge", age 86 years, walked into the arms of the Lord, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born in Bellaire, Michigan on December 2, 1923 to the late Max and Ruth (Shaw) Legue. She married Harry Germain, Jr. on October 9, 1944 and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2002. Midge retired from the Meat Dept. at Central Shop-Rite in Vassar and was a member of Cornerstone Christian Center in Bridgeport. Her greatest love was her family and spending time with them. She is survived by 2 children: Diana (Roy) Volz and Dennis (Crystal) Germain, her grandchildren: Tamara (Kim) Frank, Dennie (Katie) Germain, Brian (Trisha) Germain, Travis Germain, Scott (Julie) Germain, Dan (Chris) Germain and Bill (Elaine) Germain, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, 11 brothers and sisters, 31 nieces and nephews, and 62 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Germain, a grandson, Mike Volz, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral and committal services will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cornerstone Christian Center in Bridgeport with Pastor Kim Frank officiating. Interment will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home, 149 N. Main St., Vassar on Friday from 5-9 p.m. She will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions can be made to Cornerstone Christian Center.
