According to Jacob's obituary, he was the son of Andrew and Essie Leysath Bell however according to the 1930 Calhoun Co. Census, he and his twin brother, William, had the last name Halsey. Andrew Bell is recorded as Essie's husband on the same record with a note that he died April 12th. The census was dated April 22, 1930.
In the 1940 Census, Jacob and William's last name were Bell.
