On January 7, 2001, our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Velma Elaine Brotherson Williams, passed away peacefully at home.
She was born on June 18, 1925, in Mt. Pleasant, Utah.
She was the oldest daughter of Vernon H. and Nora Velma Tidwell Brotherson.
She attended Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant and East High School in Salt Lake.
She married her sweetheart, Miles A. Williams, on April 5, 1944; while he was on leave in Salt Lake City during World War II.
They had met in Mt. Pleasant and exchanged love letters while he was overseas. He was the love of her life.
They made their home in Salt Lake after the War where they became the parents of five children: Carolyn Williams (Gary), Marilyn Cowan (Dan), Mark Williams (Janis), Jeanette Williams, and Larry Williams (Angie). She loved her family deeply.
They were the most important things in her life.
She loved music, sewing, cooking, canning, gardening, all sorts of crafts and wild flowers.
She worked for many years in the PTA and in many organizations in the LDS church.
She was a tireless worker, always engaged in one project or another.
She had traveled throughout the world, but her favorite place was their cabin in the mountains.
Her greatest strengths were her faith and her desire to live a righteous life.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanette.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, two sons, 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, 7-9 p.m. at Cannon Mortuary, 2460 Bengal Blvd (7600 S.) Salt Lake City, UT and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, 12 noon, at the Cottonwood First Ward, 5913 S. Highland Dr., Salt Lake City.
Interment will immediately follow at Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 S., Salt Lake City, UT.
