RENSSELAER - Adam Dobson, 77, of Route 1, Rensselaer, died at 7:20 p.m. Friday in Jasper County Hospital.

Mr. Dobson was a coal miner for nine years, worked in construction for many years and also had worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. In 1974 he retired from U.S. Steel where he had worked for 22 years.

Born Oct. 8, 1910, in Vest, Ky., he attended Kentucky schools and had lived in the Jasper County area since 1952. On April 4, 1929, he was married in Kentucky to Mary Terry, and she survives.

He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are six sons, Elmer Dobson of Ingalls, Ind., Barter Dobson, Sidney Ray Dobson, Delmer Dobson and Earl Dobson, all of Rensselaer, and Wilson Dobson of Wheatfield; seven daughters, Mrs. Kiser (Alma) Sizemore of Francesville, Mrs. James (Ora) Manns of Heidelberg, Miss., Mrs. Calvin (Helen) Barnett of Silver Creek, Miss., Mrs. Charles (Retha) Walker, Mrs. Kerby (Phyllis Ann) Wireman and Mrs. Ronnie (Anita) Brunton, all of Rensselaer, and Sophia Foster of Mesquite, Texas.

Also two brothers, Beckham Dobson and Roscoe Dobson, both of Vest, Ky.; and five sisters, Eva Grigsby and Flora Combs, both of Vest, Ky., Mrs. Edward (Myrtle) Ritchie of Rensselaer, Mrs. Malcolm (Sophie) Messer of San Pierre and Elma Pratt of Walkerton.
