Son of John C. Hunt and Samantha S. (Round) HUNT.

He married Ruth Harriet (Crump) Dec. 11,, in Scott Co. AR. They moved to Indian Territory afterward. Although not a minister, he was a deacon and a long-time member of the Free Will Baptist Center Association (Pontotoc Co. OK), and served as its first permanant clerk for many years.

His careful recordings were the basis for a concise history of its proceedings that was published in 1981, with Rev. Jimmy R. Nichols, Chairman of the committee, which history is dedicated to "M.L. Hunt, because of his dedication and service to this association."

He also was one of the first Pontotoc County Commissioners.


They raised a large family in the area, whose lives influenced many communities for good.
