OBITUARY :
MR. RICHARD R. "DICK" AMSLEY, 81, of 416 W. Sixth Street, Waynesboro, PA died at 11:22 A.M. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital.

He was born on August 29, 1929 in Waynesboro; he was the son of the late Lynn R. and Eleanor R. (Barkdoll) Amsley. He lived all his life in the same home.

Mr. Amsley attended the Waynesboro Schools.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific Theater as a Seabee.

He and his wife of over 59 years, Mrs. B. Geraldine (Blubaugh) Amsley, were married on February 3, 1951 in Hagerstown.

Mr. Amsley was a tractor trailer driver all his life, having worked for, Pony express in Hagerstown; Hall's Motor Freight in Mechanicsburg, PA; Wishard's Garage in Zullinger, PA; Grove in Shady Grove, PA, and last drove for Bowman's in Williamsport, MD. He retired in 1991.

Mr. Amsley was a member of the Order of the Owls Nest #1073, Waynesboro and the national AARP.

He enjoyed watching old westerns, NASCAR and dirt races.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Richard L. "Ric" Amsley of Greencastle, Carolyn M. Amsley of Waynesboro, Robert R. "Buck" Amsley wife Joan of Frederick, MD.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Amsley.

There will be no public viewing, but the family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad Street, Waynesboro.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
