CALDWELL — Services for Ira R. Hughes, 67, of 417 Denver, who died Thursday in a Caldwell hospital, will be conducted at the Dakan Chapel at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Walden A. Askren of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will be at Canyon Hill.
Mr. Hughes was born July 12, 1900, in Greeley Center, Neb. He married Wanda Gepford, June 24, 1925, in Sidney, Iowa. The couple lived in Nebraska until 1937, when they moved to Caldwell. They went to Seattle in 1942, and he did defense work until 1946. He farmed near Yakima, Wash., for a year, and returned to Caldwell in 1947. He had been employed here by the Golden Gate Irrigation District and the J. R. Simplot Co.
He was a member of the First Brethren Church in Harrah, Wash.
Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Hughes, are three daughters, Mrs. Deloris Prince and Mrs. Marlene Foreman, both of Caldwell, and Mrs. Audrey Jean Dye of Fort Riley, Kan.; two brothers, B. R. Hughes, Jr., of Burley and Thomas D. Hughes of Gladstone, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Nasky of Nebraska City, Neb., and Mrs. Irene Moore of California, and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
