Virginia Lee Garrison was born on Valentines Day 1924 to Thomas and Pearl Garrison (née Robinson). She was raised during the depression in Plymouth Michigan. She had a fairly happy childhood: amongst her 6 siblings and various assorted family pets: including dogs, rabbits and chickens ( her favorite being a bantam rooster). She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1942 among the top of her class and where she was captain of the volleyball team, she was also class secretary. After high school Virginia was a "Rosie Riveter" for the Ford Willow Run Airport Plant. On May 24,1944 she enlisted for the Marines. After boot camp in Camp Lejeuine NC she was stationed in El Toro California where she was a bookkeeper. She loved to tell tales of "hitch-hiking" on military planes for trips home on leave. After the war she acquired a pilots license flying planes and also took fencing and shorthand lessons. She met (thru an introduction by her roommate Grace Buxton) and fell in love with William "Bill" Buxton and was married on Nov. 4, 1950 in Plymouth Michigan. Virginia had 5 children in 8 years while working at various accounting jobs. In 1965 she lost her beloved husband Bill. In 1966 she landed a job at the Livonia Post Office where she worked until her retirement in 1986. Favorite hobbies included card playing, traveling, crossword puzzles, and a life long love of reading (mysteries were a favorite). She passed away on Aug 8 2007: one day shy of the 42nd anniversary of her husband Bill's passing. She leaves behind 5 children and 8 grandchildren.
