Funeral services for Dorothy Alexander 73, of Gainesville are set for Thursday September 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Geo.J. Carroll and Son Chapel with the Rev. Roslyn Eugster officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairview cemetery under the direction of Geo J Carroll & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Wednesday September 29, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dorothy was born Janurary 26, 1937 in Gainesville to Ed and Bessie Covey Arnold.

Having a love for the circus, she was a member of the Gainesville community circus during her teenage years. She married the love of her life, Dale on October 5, 1954 and they were blessed with four children.

Her faith being important to her, she was always the first to fix a meal, buy clothes or help in anyway to someone in need. She was a charter member of the Mission United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday school and served as the recording secretary and recently wrote the articles for the church news on fridays that appeared in the Gainesville Daily Regeister. Her life centered around her family with special joy being given by her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of almost 56 years, Dale, sons and daughter- in-law Dale and Natile of Lindsay, David of gainesville, and daughter and son -in-law Deanna and John Bryan of Houma Louisiana. Grandchildren are Melissa Ice, Tanner Garrett, Kristen Alexander and Doree Garrett- Thomason and 2 great- grandsons, Braxten Ice and will Thomason and sister Ruth Brinkley of gainesville,and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son Don Alexander, her parents , sisters Dolly Longabaugh and Evie Mae Amarosa and two brothers John and Bill Arnold.
