Nellie Estelle Davenport, 78, died in the yard of her farm home, south of West Line, on April 21, 1965, while she was burning grass.

She was born Jan. 7, 1887, a daughter of Noah and Jane E. Vanaman Duncan. She spent her entire life in the vicinity of the present home, south of West Line, attending the Jonesville rural school near the family home. She united with the West Line Baptist Church on Oct. 12, 1900.

On Feb. 27, 1907, Nellie Estelle Duncan and Oliver Bertis Davenport were married in the bride's home. They established their home a few miles from the parental homes, where they lived a year, moving to their present home in 1908. They were parents of a daughter, Dorotha, and a son Dean. Mrs. Davenport was a devout member of the Freeman Baptist Church. She was a member of the West Line Community Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Luella who died in infancy, Ollie Rogers and Ida Duncan. Surviving are her husband, of the home; her daughter, Mrs. Dorotha Crook; her son, Dean Davenport; and these grandchildren, Leroy Crook, Barbara Crook, Mrs. Kay Crook Whitcraft, David Davenport, Edward Lee Davenport, and Eugene Davenport; and a great-grandson, Donne Whitcraft III; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Wilcox, Mrs. Cora Brown, and Mrs. Neva Davenport, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services were at the Freeman Baptist Church and burial in the Freeman Cemetery.
