SELMA--Betty Jane (Lewellen) Odle, 92, went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, September 28, 2010 at Parker Health Care.
She was born June 13, 1918 in Muncie, the daughter of Archibald and Lady Valeeta (Atwood) Lewellen. She graduated from Center High School, and attended Ball State Teachers College.
Mrs. Odle was employed at Chrystal's Country Home, Parker Health Care, and retired from J.C. Penney after several years. She was a member of Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene, where she was very active, WCTU, and Econo Misses Home-Ec Club. She also enjoyed gardening, painting, quilting, sewing, golfing, and especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her son, Donald Odle (wife-Dana), Selma; her daughter, Lorraine Reese (husband-Stephen), Albany; five grandchildren, Jason Odle (wife-Hollye), Sellersburg, Natalie Griffel (husband-Bill), Lafayette, Kara Pennella (husband-Justin), Enon, OH, Brian Odle, Indianapolis, and Ryan Reese (wife-Heather), New Paris, OH; six great-grandchildren, Isabel Odle, Cadence Johnson, Will Griffel, Carson Ragland, Josie Griffel, and Addison Reese; a brother, Lowell "Red" Lewellen, Muncie; a brother-in-law, Chester Cross, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard; and three sisters, Ruth Kelso, Rachel Estel, and Phyllis Cross.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Harris Chapel Church of the Nazarene with Pastor James Ballenger officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday or one hour prior to service on Friday at the church.
