Benjamin Walter, (B. W.) Baucum, died at his home, Tuesday August 13, 1946.
B.W. was born in Louisiana to Thomas Hampton and Mary Baucum. The family moved to Arkansas when he was a young boy but later moved back to Louisiana.
Thomas Hampton moved the family to Limestone County Texas in the late 1880s or early 1890s. B.W. met and married Alcie Weaver in the mid 1890s in Limestone County where their first two children, Tom and Joe, were born.
In the early 1900s they moved to Jones County Texas where they settled and remained for the remainder of their lives.
In the early 1920s B.W. became the manager of what was known as the Phillips Farm made up of some 5,700 acres. The farm at that time had some 32 renters with a house furnished by the Phillips for each renter. B.W. remained the manager until his death.
B.W. died in his home there on the Phillips Farm west of Anson, Tx.
He was survived by his wife, Alcie, five sons, Tom, Joe, Walter, Shelby, and Weaver, 2 duaghters Zona Goza and Francis Smith. B.W. was also survived by one sister and five brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant child, and two sisters.
