Dr. Caseel D. Burke 1913 ~ 2006 SOUTH JORDAN - Our wonderful father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather, Dr. Caseel D. Burke, passed away in Salt Lake City, Utah on Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the age of 92.

Caseel was born October 28, 1913 in Honeyville, Utah to Adelbert Reed and Sarah Jane Tolman Burke.

He attended Box Elder High and served an LDS Mission to Eastern Canada. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.

He married Erma Hansen of Tremonton, Utah in the Salt Lake Temple on September 15, 1939.

They were happily married for 37 years. One of their most interesting adventures was taking their four children to Iran for two years while Caseel taught at the University of Tehran. Erma died of cancer in 1976.

He later married LaVora Jensen in the Salt Lake Temple.

She has been a loyal, kind helpmeet to him for 28 years.

They served a mission together in San Jose, CA. Caseel was a professor in the Elementary Education Department at Utah State University. He received a Doctorate in Education from Berkeley and later became the Dean of Education at Weber State University, where he helped establish the first Department of Teacher Education. Caseel has been a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in many ward and stake callings. He has set an example of kindness, goodness and integrity to all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, LaVora; four children: Brian (Saundra) Burke, Denver, CO; Kathy (Gary) Iverson, Fruit Heights, UT; Barbara (Jeff) Braman, Carlsbad, CA; Carolyn (Ron) McNeely, Layton; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19 at 10 a.m. at the River Ridge 8th Ward Chapel, 1300 West 10200 South, South Jordan (north of the Jordan River Temple). Friends may call at the Ward Chapel on Thursday from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Interment, Honeyville Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded. Funeral Directors, Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary.
