Anders Christian Anderson, son of Peter and Kirstine Anderson, was born in Thisted, Denmark, Europe, on Sept. 1, 1866. He died March 1, 1946, at the age of 79 years and 6 months.
In 1869 his father migrated to America and took a homestead near Denmark, Kan. Three years later his mother and her five small children followed him and the entire family shared in the task of making a home and a livelihood on the claim.
In these humble surroundings he grew to manhood and early learned the lesson of diligence, thrift and frugality.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church and was an active and faithful member all his life.
On Oct. 3[?], 1889, he was married to Elvina Marie Larsen. To them were born 12 children, four of whom have preceded him in death.
Immediately after their marriage the young couple moved to their farm northwest of Denmark where they lived until the spring of 1942 when they moved to the town of Denmark.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his widow and son Viggo of the home, by his other children, Mrs. L.C. Helle, Mrs. William Andreson of Lincoln; George Anderson, Chadron, Neb.; Mrs. Edward Jensen, Junction City, Ore.; Mrs. Peter Halford, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Nels Andersen and Alvin Anderson of the Denmark community. He also leaves 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A kindly cheerful man who loved life and gave freely of himself to his family and to his community, he will be greatly missed. Wtihin the past seven months he had attended the funerals of a sister, Mrs. Ernest Andresen, and a brother, John Anderson.
Funeral services for Mr. Andersen were held from the Denmark Lutheran church Tuesday, March 5, and interment was made in the cemetery there.
