Dortha Mae Corntassel age 85 passed away September 25, 2010 at Osborne Health & Rehabilitation Center in Miami. She was born on December 10, 1924 in Estancia, New Mexico the daughter of Marvin & Lela (Holland) Newgent.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leon Corntassel, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Corntassel, of Miami, Oklahoma, 3 sons, Tommy Corntassel and his wife, Terry of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Timothy Corntassel and his wife Gayle, of Quapaw, Oklahoma and Jim Corntassel and his wife Tammy, of Miami, Oklahoma. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Dortha Mae Corntassel will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church in Miami, Oklahoma with Pastor Don Williams, officiating. Grave Side service and interment will be held at 3:00 pm at Old Green Cemetery in Westville, Oklahoma following the funeral service. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening, September 28, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Jim Corntassel, Tim Corntassel, Tom Corntassel, Cody Corntassel, Chris Corntassel and Bob Snyder. Honorary Pallbearers will be Josh Corntassel, Luke Corntassel and Shawn Corntassel. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
