He Was Born in Ohio and Came to Carthage in 1881
A. M. Pinney, for 29 years a resident of Carthage died yesterday morning at 9:30, at the Pinney home 415 Cooper Street. He was 78 years of age, and death was due to a general breaking down. For the past two months he has failed rapidly, but at the time of his death he had been confined to his bed but one week.
Coming from Pittsfield, Illinois, in 1881, Mr. Pinney engaged in the queensware business, and he became widely known here.
During his residence as a citizen of Carthage he made many warm friends, and his death will be the occasion of much regret to them.
He was born in Waverly, Ohio April 3, 1832, and moved from that place to Illinois and thence to Carthage. He is survived by his wife, and was the last survivor of a family of 11.
He left no children of his own, but Mrs. Norman Lanpher, an adopted daughter, had made her home with the deceased since she was a baby, and was a great favorite of Mr. Pinney.
Mr. Pinney served one year in the Union Army during the Civil War, and was a leading member of the Christian Church in this city during his lifetime.
The funeral was held at the Christian Church
Rev. D. W. Moore officiated.
