Robert Shaw Passed Life's Bounds Sat. Long Life of Service. Leaves Large Family of Children and Grand-children. Faithful Christian Citizen. With the death of Robert Shaw the community loses a fine Christian citizen and friend. Mr. Robert Shaw had not only the devotion of his large family but the respect of his neighbors and friends. Although living most of his years on his farm northeast of the village yet he was closely connected with the life of the village as well. He was a faithful member of the local Methodist church and of the Masonic lodge. Only recently he attended the latter institution in the best of spirits and best of health. However, that dread disease pneumonia grasped him and owing to his advanced years he succumbed. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon. The pastor Rev. A. T. Cartland officiated. Mrs. Thomas Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Goodemoot furnished the music. A number of Masonic brothers served as escort. The bearers were: Charles Ernsberger, Gottlieb Kussmaul, Ed Shellhorn, Dan Skellenger, Fred Urtel and Norman Barker. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery. Obituary Robert Shaw was born in Leeds county, Ontario, July 16, 1849, and departed this life in Odessa township, February 9, 1934, at the age of 84 years, seven months and nine days. He was united in marriage to Miss Lucinda Jones in 1875. To this union were born nine children: William T. who died in infancy, J. Glenn who departed this life in 1929 at the age of 47 years, Mrs. Jennie S. Hansbarger of Lake Odessa, James A. Shaw of Grand Ledge, Mrs. Nancy Chapin of Detroit, Mrs. Mary E. Bever of Lake Odessa, Mrs. Millie A. Rogers of Portland, Mrs. Lauretta Fleetham of Sunfield, and Mrs. Grace V. Ackerson of Lake Odessa. He was a kind and loving husband and father. He was a faithful member of the Methodist church and of the Masonic lodge of Lake Odessa. He leaves to mourn their loss a loving and devoted wife, seven children, forty- three grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
