Carl W. Brandt, 68, 509 N. Sprague St., died Friday at his home.
He was born March 22, 1917, in Carlton, Mont., to Walter and Katherine (Patty) Brandt.
He moved with his family to the Kittitas Valley in 1931 and graduated from Ellensburg High School and Central Washington college of Education.
Mr. Brandt taught in Outlook and Kent before World War II and, from 1942 to 1945, he served with the U.S. Army in Europe.
He was employed by the Washington State Employment Security Department from 1945 until retirement in 1972.
Mr. Brandt was a member of Austin Reese Wheeler Post No. 8 of the American Legion and a life member of the Ellensburg Elks Lodge.
He and Margaret Davison were married in Ellensburg on Oct. 3, 1942.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one son, Mike Brandt, Yakima; a step-daughter, Marlene Jensen, Redmond; his mother, Katherine (Patty) Shafer; a brother, Billy Brandt; a sister, Laura Rugh, all of Ellensburg; three grandsons, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Cotton Chapel. Austin Reese Wheeler Post No. 8 of the American Legion will officiate and burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery.
Family suggests memorial contributions to the Washington State Lung Association, 1515 Dexter Ave. N., third floor, Seattle, 98109.
