George Davis Phillips Adams, aka "GDP" Adams was the youngest child of John and Mary Phillips Adams, born August 2, 1835 in Surry (now Yadkin) County, North Carolina. He married Susan Brindle on June 14, 1857 and they farmed in Yadkin County. The births and deaths of their children and grandchildren are recorded in the family bible of Nathan Adams:

George preceded his wife in death by 4 days. They are both buried at the Deep Creek Friends Cemetery in Yadkin County.

In 1964, the graves of George and his wife, along with 15 identified, and twenty unidentified graves were relocated in order for the road to be widened.
