Herman Reeves Tyler, Jr., 69, of 1715 Berkley Ave., Petersburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 1994, at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals. Mr. Tyler was a native and lifelong resident of Petersburg and was a son of the late Herman Reeves Tyler, Sr. and Imo St. Clair Tyler. He was a retired employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Co. and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a veterian of the U.S. Air Force in World War II. Mr. Tyler is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ann Phillips Tyler; son Herman Reeves Tyler III of Richmond; daughter, Frances Tyler Hessler and son-in-law Rober E. Hessler of Midlothian; five sisters, Mrs. Doris Petty of Petersburg, Mrs. Dorothy Ross of Vinton; Mrs. Frances K. Hall of Hopewell, Mrs. Katherine Denison of Cumming, Ga., and Mrs. Ruth Dawson of Fredericksburg; two granddaughters, Holly Ann and Amy Elizabeth Hessler, both of Midlothian. Mr. Tyler was predeceased by a brother, Millard S. Tyler. Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 1994 at Blandford Cemetery. The Rev. I. Vincent Mercer, pastor of Trinity United Methodsit Church, will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Massey Cancer Clinic, Medical College of Virginia Hospitals, P.O. Box 3042, Richmond, Va. 23284-3042.
