Lida Velma Frickel was the third of seven children born at the Frickel homestead NW of Ringwood and lived there until she was married to Harry B. Astley on Sept. 1, 1924. Just two years before this Lida's older sister, Anna, had married Harry's older brother, George Astley--two sisters had thus married two brothers!

Lida and Harry moved to the Astley homestead located five miles south of Helena in 1924, and they lived and farmed there for twenty-six years, raising a family of four children, two of whom died at very young ages. In 1950 Lida and Harry moved into Helena, where they continued to reside until their deaths. Lida died at age 71 at an Enid hospital on May 3, 1975. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry, and by a younger sister, Lucy (Frickel) Adkisson.

Lida was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Helena, the WCTU, and the WSCS.
