SOUTH BEND - Patsy J. (Coswell) Vermande, 60, of Pond Street, died at 1:15 a.m. Monday in her home after an illness. Mrs. Vermande was born March 15, 1933, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident.

On Dec. 11, 1953, in South Bend, as Patsy J. Coswell, she married Robert D. Vermande. He survives with three daughters, Tanya E. Vermande and Tracy L. Vermande, both at home, and Tamara A. Erickson of Wooddale, Ill.; two sons, Timothy J. of Dayton, Ohio, and Terrence R. of Tempe, Ariz.; two granddaughters; and two sisters, Nancy Laack of Birmingham, Ala., and Betsy Richard of Mishawaka. She was a member of Northway Church of Christ and director of the Cradle Roll Department, and was a participant in the Foster Parents for Babies program through Catholic Social Services.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Cradle Roll in care of the church.
