Mrs. Charlotte T. Baker, Dead.
Another mother, friend and neighbor has gone to reap the reward of the just.
The subject of this was widely known as a charitable, benevolent and pious christian woman. She was born in Kentucky July 11, 1819, and came to Indiana with her parents when quite young. In 1838 she was married to Thomas Dowel. To this union there were four children born, two of whom are still living. Mrs. Eliza J. Ritter and Mrs. Dorthy Harsh.
Her first husband having died she was again married in 1851 to Joseph Baker. To this union there were 1 [*sic]children born, two boys and two girls. Mrs. Mary Johnson, Abraham Baker, Mrs. Gillmore and Wm. Baker. Very early in life she united with the Bethel Baptist church and has lived a Christian life. Calm and peaceful in life, she was surpassingly calm in death. She quietly passed away Aug. 29 1898: funeral services were conducted at Bethel by the pastor, Rev. W. H. Harris after which the remains were laid to rest in the Bethel cemetery.
