A devoted family man; husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to many. His obituary from the Charleston Daily Mail on Monday, April 17, 1967 reads as follows:

Harley E. Gwinn, age 74, of 307 Rockwood Avenue, Diamond, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired conductor of the New York Central System and had been a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen for 55 years. He belonged to the Diamond Methodist Church.

Surviving are son, Kenneth of Diamond; daughters, Mrs. Thelma Smith of Charleston, Mrs. Audrey Hindle of Cross Lanes; brother, Waldo of Shrewsbury; sister, Mary Jane Gwinn Walker (Find-a-Grave #60182116).

Service will be in Fidler and Frame Funeral Home at Belle on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. by the Reverand William Holtsclaw and the Reverand James Dews, with burial in Montgomery Memorial Park at London.
