Native of McDowell County. Opal was widow of the late John H. Mitchem. She was a member of Oak Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by son Jimmy Mitchem. She was a former resident of Rutherfordton. Two Daughters: Jerrie Sue Oyler, Forest City, NC Christine Elizabeth Mitchem, Ellenboro, NC Two Sons: Larry Mitchem, and wife Ruth of Townville, SC Bruce Mitchem and wife Diane of Ada, OH One Sister: Hazel Lowery, Ellenboro, NC Two Brothers: Rudolph Gallion, Forest City, NC Everette Gallion, Rutherfordton, NC 17 Grand Children 24 Great-Grand Children 12 Great-Great-Grand Children The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Friday, prior to the service at the church.
