Zoe Louder

1918 ~ 2010

After a 92-year sojourn here on earth, Zoe Louder passed away on the evening of September 24, 2010 from causes incident to age. She died peacefully and has returned to join her husband Carl, who passed away some 13 years ago.

Zoe was born on October 18, 1918 in Lehi, Utah to Clarence and Arminta Ball. She was raised in Lehi just down the street from Broadbent's store, and attended Lehi public schools. She married Carl Louder, of Orem, on September 11, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

After their marriage, Carl and Zoe moved to Park City where Carl worked in the silver mines for several years. They later moved to Orem when Geneva Steel opened for business. Zoe worked for a number of years as a switchboard operator at the old Mountain Bell telephone company, and later retired from Utah Valley Hospital where she enjoyed working with her friends in the Admitting department.

Zoe is "Mom" to three children, Eldon (Karen) Louder, in Afton, Wyoming, Rick (Miriam) Louder, in Highland, Utah, and Jan (Tom) Scott, in Virginia Beach, Virginia; and "Grandma" to 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Zoe was an active member of the LDS church, having served faithfully in a number of callings throughout her life, but her greatest service was to her family and friends, who she loved and would sacrifice anything for.

Zoe is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her sister, Carol Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, her parents, Clarence and Arminta, her brothers, William "Bill", Arnold, Leo, Jack, and her sisters Ida, Verla and baby sister, Georgia; and her daughter-in-law, Carolyn (Bellows) Louder.

The family would like to extend a special note of thanks to the caretakers at Beehive Homes, who have adopted, loved and cared for Zoe for the past 30 months, as well as her dear neighbor Betty Rosenberg, and her friend and hairdresser, Patsy Callahan who have been faithful friends during her declining years.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Wing Mortuary located at 118 E. Main Street in Lehi. Friends and relatives may visit with Zoe during a viewing prior to the services, beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
