Death Takes Mrs. Morgan Before 100th Birthday Fete

RAVENSWOOD — Mrs. Margaret Ellen Snodgrass Morgan died yesterday at her home in Ravenswood just a few hours before she was to celebrate her 100th birthday.

Her husband, 92-year-old F. A. Morgan has been in ill health for the past year and Mrs. Morgan, in a feature in the Sunday edition of the Daily Mail, said she had one duty:

"It's my duty to keep strong and be able to assist him and be able to remain at his side until the last."

The last came Sunday morning and the remarkably active lady was unaware of its nearness. She died in her sleep.

Mrs. Morgan retained a vivid memory and read the Bible and two daily newspapers each day. She outlived four of her five children.

A daughter of the late Washington and Rachel Snodgrass, Mrs. Morgan was born near New Martinsville on Oct. 31, 1854. She completed her education at Fairmont Teachers' college and taught school for nine years.

Her husband was one of her former students.

In yesterday's story in the Daily Mail Mrs. Morgan said her principal interest in life had been to see her children and grandchildren might have the education and ideals to enable them to have a more complete life.

Mr. and Mrs. Morgan lived at Ravenswood since 1900 and had been in the present home for the past 17 years.

She was a member of Walton Memorial Methodist church and the Woman's club.
