Son of Wm Walton Treadway (of Moses, Thomas, Richard Sr, Josiah, and Nathaniell Treadaway)and Margaret Bowman.He was a school teacher and the sheirff for 9 yrs. in Owsley Co. Ky. He petitioned the governor and was allowed to raise and command for 7 months the 3 Forks Battalion. He served in the 3rd Ky Vol. Inf. in Union Army 1861-65. He was Capt. & Major of Co. A,7th Inf. in the Civil War.He was a Member of Ky. State House of Representataives 1875-76. Married Sarah Eager born 26 Aug. 1824,in Owsley Co., Ky. on 5 Dec. 1851 and had 6 children,Morgan Joseph, Laura, Decatur, Stratton, Archibald, Mollie. Sarah died 27 July 1872 and he married Sophia Clark born 31 may 1843, in Owsley Co.,Ky on 22 March 1873 and had 5 children by her, Margaret, Robert, Elizabeth, Endocia,and Martha.
