Frances Bevill Lucas, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, February 10th, 2010, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. She was the last living child of Daisy and Von Bevill. Mrs. Lucas was a native of Effingham County and was a member of the Mizpah United Methodist Church in Kildare, Georgia. For the past four years, she had been a resident of Southern Manor Retirement Inn in Statesboro, GA, under the loving care of Kaye Wiles, owner, and the wonderful staff. Mrs. Lucas was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Woodrow (Trixie) Lucas, naving made their home in Kildare, Georgia.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Earl and Jewel Dabbs of Statesboro, GA, and Bobbie Metzger of Allendale, SC; seven grandchildren, Julie and Brad Williams, Earl and Beverly Dabbs and Kelly and Heather Dabbs, all of Statesboro; Ted and Lisa Metzger, Rob and Cat Metzger and John and Laney Reed, all of Allendale, SC; Pat and Pem Richardson of Barnwell, SC; 13 great grandchildren; two nieces, Margie Leeder of Newington and Sherry Black of Sylvania; a nephew, Bernard Pierce, Jr., of Guyton and a sister-in-law, Luree Bevill of Sylvania. A host of other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 12th, 2010, at 11:00am at the Mizpah United Methodist Church in Kildare, GA, with Rev. Madison Morgan officiating. The body will lie-in-state one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the church cemetery with a visitation to follow in the church fellowship hall.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Earl Dabbs, Jr., Kelly Dabbs, Brad Williams, Ted Metzger, John Reed and Cole Reed.
