Ruthy was born and raised in Kleberg Texas. At 15 years of age her Mom died. Then at 16 years of age she married Alexander H. Vick. They lived in and around Oklahoma and Texas, finally settling in Sherman, Grayson county, Texas.
They raised 9 children together; the oldest being Lillian Caroline, and the youngest was Dorothy Joan. Alexander died at home on 17, February 1959.
