CONCORD - Jacob Eli Furr Jr., 79, of Five Oaks Nursing Center and formerly of Poplar Tent Road, died Friday, April 16, 2004.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Rev. Fenton Jones will officiate.


The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Wilkinson Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of a daughter, 1226 Eaglecrest Drive in Stanley.


Born Nov. 28, 1924, he was the son of the late Jacob E. Furr and Annie Ballard Furr. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Stokes Lodge No. 32 and a Shriner.


He was preceded in death on May of 1997 by his wife, Ruth Eleanor Verble Furr.


Survivors include two daughters, Ann Gray Furr Edwards and husband Tim of Stanley and Jolette Furr Thomas and husband Phillip of Kannapolis; a brother, Robert Furr of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren, Tymphany Troutman, Jaren Edwards, Leslie Thomas, Summer Thomas; and great-grandchildren, Devin Vanpelt and Finley Edwards.
