GREENWOOD, Robert Stratton - Born April 26, 1924, died July 9, 2004. Robert Stratton Greenwood passed away on the morning of July 9th, 2004. Born in Oakland California on April 26, 1924 to George Monroe and Virginia Smith Greenwood, he lived a happy and productive life. Rob was a fourth generation Californian and a proud member of The Society of California Pioneers; the oldest historical organization west of the Mississippi. He graduated from the class of 1943 - Middlesex School in Concord, MA. Rob attended Holy Cross College in the Navy V-12 program served his county during WWII in 1943 to 1946. He ultimately graduated from UC Berkeley and married his wife of 53 years, Patricia Griffin in 1948. He and Pat spent their adult lives residing in Piedmont California with a summer house in Glenbrook Nevada. Rob worked for Rheem Manufacturing for many years after the war. His work career was highlighted by being president of the now dissolved Tubbs Cordage Company for over 15 years; a historic rope manufacturer founded in San Francisco in the early 1850's. Rob was a descendent of the Hiram Tubbs family; Hiram's daughter, Mabel Alice Tubbs married Rob's grandfather, George Davis Greenwood. Rob was also a member of San Francisco's Pacific Union Club and Claremont Country Club in Berkeley. Generous with his time and friend of many Bay Area and Lake Tahoe residents, Rob will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at the Greenwood house in Glenbrook Nevada on July 31 from 5:00-7:00PM, 165 The Back Road, Glenbrook, NV 89413. Rob's remains will be interred in Mountain View Cemetery, of which he was a Trustee, next to his loving wife Pat. Donations can be sent to the Piedmont Beautification Foundation; Piedmont Beautification Foundation, City Hall, Vista Ave., Piedmont, CA 94611.
