TRAVERSE CITY - Julia M. Slocum, 90, of Traverse City, died Monday evening at Birchwood Nursing Center.
Born July 21, 1912, in Cadillac, she was the daughter of William and Emma (Goff) Bennett. On Sept. 16, 1928, in Boyne City, she married Claude Richard Slocum, who preceded her in death on March 5, 1987.
Julia was a lifelong resident of the Traverse City area and a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her son, Robert R. Slocum of Weidman; a brother, Norman Bennett of Monterey, Calif.; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, Claude, Julia was also preceded in death by her daughter, Norma J. Priest.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Arrangements are by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.
